in-studio workshops

INVITE A FRIEND AND ENJOY A WAX & WINE WORKSHOP. I’m currently offering two different workshops in my private SW Portland studio. Learn the art of encaustic monotype and create one-of-a-kind images by transferring melted pigmented beeswax onto Kozo rice paper. Or light up a cozy evening with radiant votives adorned in artful covers that have the special glow of beeswax.

NO PREVIOUS ART EXPERIENCE NEEDED. These workshops are ideal for emerging artists open to experimenting with materials and happy accidents. Aa a previous participant exclaimed, “Hey! I made this! I’m an artist!”

All materials are provided. Each participant will leave with at least one finished product in addition to your practice pieces. (votive candle or matted framed monotype) Additional frames and candles will be available to purchase.

Enjoy an afternoon of creativity and companionship. Workshops are from 1:00-4:30 pm and include age-appropriate beverages, coffee, tea, and light snacks.

Each 3.5-hour workshop includes an introduction to the materials, examples of finished pieces, modeling and practice of the techniques involved, a resource guide, and completion of one finished piece you can display.

If you’re experienced already with similar media, consider an hourly private or semi-private workshop to explore new methods and materials. Contact me directly to arrange a mutually convenient time. Some materials provided.
