acrylic on canvas OR VELlUM
I’ve started using acrylics on canvas and other surfaces to focus with more immediacy on the color and textural relationships rather than the technical details of encaustic and printmaking. I also love the challenge of an unforgiving medium that won’t allow me to work on a single piece too long. In doing so, these paintings have become a meditation on my love of horizons and fascination with scarred flat surfaces that seem to suggest horizons. An intuitive process of allowing images to emerge from basic mark-making has produced whimsical and evocative landscapes and narrative paintings.
